NASA is set to announce which museums will have the honor of displaying one of the three surviving space shuttles (Discovery, Endeavor, or Atlantis) on April 12, the 30th anniversary of the launch of the first shuttle (Columbia) into space.
The Smithsonian is a frontrunner for one, but museums across the country are hopeful for the other two, including Kennedy Space Center, Johnson Space Center, the US Air Force Museum, Museum of Flight in Seattle, and the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum in NYC.
